Fortunately, I Do Love Growth More Than Comfort
Sep 18, 2025
When I saw the trend of “Unfortunately, I do love…” my first instinct wasn’t to make a list of guilty pleasures. My mind went straight to how I could flip this language into something more growth-minded.
That’s the filter I use for all I take in, words, ideas, even the small everyday moments. I can’t help but process through the lens of What this teaches me? How does this move me forward? And just as significantly, that filter shapes what I choose to put back out into the world.
So, what came to me was, unfortunately, fortunatel
Not because comfort is wrong. Comfort has its place; it’s where I rest, breathe, and reset. But growth is what keeps me alive. Growth challenges me to notice my old patterns and choose differently. Growth reminds me that every mistake is proof that I am human and learning.
The people closest to me see it all play out. My kids hear me unpack it in real time. They absorb my words and energy like sponges, not just when I “get it right” but also when I pause, reset, or try again. They’re watching me filter what I take in and how I put it out, choosing daily to live through choice, challenge, and forward motion.
And maybe that’s the real invitation for you. Because when I flip the language, here’s what it offers all of us:
-
It models a way of thinking. You can start filtering your self-talk by asking, How can I flip this into growth?
-
It makes growth tangible. Growth isn’t always about giant leaps; sometimes it’s as small as changing one word.
-
It validates being human. Mistakes aren’t failures; they’re reminders you’re learning and moving.
-
It invites reflection. You can try it right now, take one thought, phrase, and flip it forward.
That’s why flipping the language matters: how we choose to filter what we take in and what we put out shapes how we see ourselves and how others experience us, too.
So yes, fortunately, I love growth more than comfort. It’s how I choose, how I challenge, and how I keep living in forward motion.
What’s one phrase or idea you could flip today to move yourself forward?
